CH - Forum "Hello Shitty World"
Game lounge presented by FLX, GRRRR, Marc Divo and Mickry Drei

After the "Supermarket's" loud, cellophane-covered, cardboard dreams, Mickry Drei and friends are back and it's time to play!

Are virtual possibilities real or not?
Being able to test what might be reality and what is fiction nowadays is one thing, but all we deal with in the virtual world is possible possibilities. The dictionaries usually suggest the word "possible" as a synonym for virtual. OK, let's look back into "Hello Shitty World!" to differentiate between right and wrong.

The world today offers us many ways in which we can immerse ourselves in it, either by simply walking around, by getting sucked into a computer game with five other players, or by just stocking up with potentially useful "Hello Shitty World!" goodies from the souvenir shop at the lounge's entry/ exit.

The "Hello Shitty World!" lounge will be occupied by the five single residents existing in this virtual world today: The main figure of course "Hello Shitty", and then quite importantly his (de-) moralized friends (sometimes fiends) "Hello Stony", "Miss Strippy", "Potato head", "Drägon" and "Mr Rainbow.

The play on "Hello Kitty's World" and her friends was intentional, and sometimes a little rough. Apart from their names rhyming, everything else involved is the reverse of a child's normal, fitted out sort of day, including Teletubbies, Furbies, Pokémon or Monsters Inc. The six tiny, two-metre high heroes from "Hello Shitty World!" are formed from wire netting and covered in newspaper, the finishing touches being added with tissue paper. The particular materials used for these idol-like figures were also meant as a satirical stab at the brilliantly sterile-vividness of the kitten "Kitty" and it's accompanying merchandising.

History
"Hello Shitty World" is the fifth collaborative piece to be released by the artists: FLX (*1977), GRRRR (*1975), Marc Divo (*1966), and Mickry Drei (*1980/ *1981/ *1978). After "Disco TV" in the Marx Bar (Luxembourg, April 2000), in the Berlin Radio Gallery (Berlin, July 2000), in Espace Karim Francis (Cairo, December 2000) and in the Wachelturm Art rooms (Zürich, September 2001).
