Robert Crumb & The Underground (US)

Robert Crumb was one of the leading creators of the most significant and iconic revolution in the history of comics: the underground comix. Under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs these mostly male American artists of the 1960s and 1970s demolished taboos of any kind and let sociopolitical commentary as well as sexual fantasies flow onto the page without restraint. In addition to works by Crumb and other well-known artists such as Art Spiegelman, Gilbert Shelton, Spain Rodriguez or Charles Burns, the exhibition offers the rare opportunity to discover original works by less prominent members of the underground.
