Symposium

09.30–13.00Drawing as ThinkingSymposium

Maskenliebhabersaal

Those interested in finding out why comic artists refer to drawing as thinking would best hear the answers from the artists themselves. Our guests share their take on the craft: how they acquire knowledge through commandeering imitation, abstraction, isolation, fusion and alienation. They cast light on their technical understanding of the art and reveal how they hold their own despite admiration of their idols.

Participating comic artists include Ben Katchor (US), Yves Noyau (CH), Miroslav Sekulic-Struja (HR), Geoff Grandfield (UK), Nicolas Mahler (AT), Judith Vanistendael (BE), Hamid Sulaiman (SYR)

Moderation: Lars von Törne (DE), journalist
Introduction: Pierre Thomé (CH), Professor of illustration, Lucerne College for Art and Design / Hochschule Luzern – Design & Kunst

Event in English / German

Information & registration

In cooperation with the Lucerne College of Art and Design / Hochschule Luzern – Design & Kunst, faculty of illustration
